Resolution: Healthy Eating
This past week, I had a few friends over for tea – one of them was pleasantly surprised when he remarked, “Oh when you said tea you meant like a proper English afternoon tea!” And what made it even more awesome was the fact that I used my mother’s good china -I mean what is the point of beautiful things if you can’t use them? Had I been more ambitious, I’m pretty sure I would have made tea sandwiches {but on seeing that I need to work on my time management these days – been busy obviously}, I made Cardamom Banana Bread and gluten free Dulce de Leche mini cakes. I was just being resourceful – you see mother had bananas that were looking rather wimpy and I had dulce de leche that I wanted to use up before I began detoxing. The tea was great, we had a lovely chat and I’m thinking of making this a regular thing.

One of my resolutions involves healthy eating. I’ve found for me to be successful, I am breaking down my resolutions and working on them little by little. Step one of the healthy eating resolution is to go on a juice fast for two weeks. If you guys could see the eating I did over the holidays? You’d understand why this is an oh so necessary process. I officially began my juice fast today and I hesitate to call it a juice fast because I’m making smoothies instead. Mother has this amazing Vitamix blender that blends thoroughly and the clean up after is easy. Also, I don’t have to worry about not getting enough fiber or the waste juicing creates. One that note, let me share one of my favorite “juice” recipe. 2 pears (not that it matters but I used bosc), 1 orange, 2 handfuls of spinach and a piece of ginger (I used about an inch). You can adjust the ingredients to suit your taste but let me tell you – this one? I’d drink it every day if I wasn’t concerned about my nutrient intake.
